Your First Visit
For your first visit (for adults); expect to stay about one hour. On this visit, we review your medical history, take all necessary x-rays for diagnosis (or review transferred x-rays), perform a comprehensive initial exam, and generate a treatment plan based on your needs. Photos of the inside of your mouth can be taken to show you what we see. A cleaning is generally NOT provided on this visit. For adults without complex issues and have current x-rays available from another office, we can incorporate the cleaning into the first visit. This is our FastTrack program for adults. For patients under 18 years old, we generally perform the above as well as provide a cleaning on the first visit.
Same day or next day emergency appointments are available for new and existing patients with pain, swelling, or other significant concerns.
For children and adults, we recommend a routine consisting of a professional cleaning and dental exam every six months. Those with complex issues such as periodontal disease or a high tendency to develop cavities should be seen more frequently to monitor and treat your condition.
Sterilization
At Pocono Dental Associates, we take pride in our strict sterilization procedures utilizing state of the art autoclaves for our instruments. It is one of our top priorities to protect the well-being of our patients. Our office meets and surpasses all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) standards for infection control. We are confident that you will feel right at home in our office as we welcome all patients as if they were family. As always, we welcome your questions on our sterilization protocol.
Sterilization
We follow all recommended guidelines for dental X-ray intervals. Dental x-rays are important for early detection of cavities, periodontal disease, and other diseases of the jaw. Every individual is carefully asses and an x-ray interval is made to match your risk assessment for cavities and periodontal issues. We utilize the latest equipment in digital radiology as well as protective vests and thyroid collars on every patient while taking x-ray images.
